The discussions on legal education have drawn much attention in recent years, but too often they are limited within one place or one group of people. This project intends to help overcome these limits. Through recording short video statements on legal education reform and make them available online, we intend to create a forum that involves law school deans, leading professors, practitioners, and students from different countries in the world. We urge your participation through either making comments on the video or submitting your own videos to us. Let your ideas about the future of legal education be heard. This initiative is part of the series of projects leading up the the Global Legal Education Forum to take place March 23-25, 2012 at Harvard Law School. We encourage everyo...

Calgary is a little bit cowboy, a little bit trendy and a whole lot of fun. I was amazed that this Alberta capital, the largest in this Canadian province, had so much personality! There's amazing local food, charming bike paths along the river, a really happening downtown nightlife scene and some fantastic hotels (Hotel Arts, looking at you). I really was amazed by the little neighborhoods and the innovative new hotspots like a food container bar, an incredible cocktail bar, the delicious Simmons Building and so much more. I even get totally outfitted as a cowgirl, just like any Calgary girl should. Big thanks to Tamara from Globe Guide to being my awesome local tour guide!

Southern Albertans’ relationship with water has changed strikingly in recent years, enduring a withering drought and a hundred-year flood. Our cities are often situated on river banks, like Calgary at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers, making them vulnerable to floods yet creating the illusion of plentiful water. This leads us to overlook the fact that the prairies are prone to drought and watersheds strain to meet the growing demands of our population. These contrasting vulnerabilities are just some of the complex challenges we face in our region. Join our panel of experts for a roundtable discussion that explores the future of water over the next 20 years in Calgary and beyond. Our speakers will discuss a variety of issues related to water in southern Alberta watersheds, includ...

Carleton University & The Department of Sociology and Anthropology Present: "From Omar Khadr and Guantanamo to the rule of law in an age of terror" By Dennis Edney QC Omar Khadr’s Canadian lawyer will talk about Omar Khadr and Guantanamo, and the unconstitutional setting in which Omar was ‘convicted’ as a ‘war criminal’. This process was decried as deeply flawed and unfair by UN Human Rights experts.
